What is a WordPress Theme?

WordPress Themes

wordpressThe WordPress Theme you choose will be the design and functionality for your website or blog. What I mean by this is, the design (or overall look) of this article and blog and website has been determined by the "theme" I chose for this website.

There are tons of themes available on WordPress for you to choose from. You can either use a free theme or purchase a theme to use. I personally use free themes right now, but if I find a theme I would like to use in the future I would definitely buy one. Having said that I would start with a free theme until you are comfortable working with WordPress.

What WordPress Theme Should I Choose?

That answer depends on you and your goals for your website or blog. When you search for themes it allows you to preview it. I recommend doing this, this way you will have idea what your website or blog would look like. Also read the details of each particular theme you are interested in. Make sure it has the features you want to be able to use now and in the future.

WordPress – What is it?

What is WordPress?

What is WordPressWordPress is a free, Web-based software program that one can use to create a website or blog. It was originally designed to create a blog, but, since it is an “open source” program, and many programmers have worked to improve its capabilities, WordPress has morphed into more than just a tool for bloggers. Currently it has been used to create and maintain more than 60 million websites, and that number continues to grow daily.

WordPress is a very easy to use piece of software to build websites. It is the platform that many internet marketers use to create their websites. The best part about this software besides its ease of use is the fact that it is free. It is what I use to create and maintain my websites. All you need is a hosting company to host your website, and at most that is about $10.00 per month.

Why would I even mention this? Because if you are planning a career in internet marketing, or have an existing "brick and mortar" business I don’t want you to even consider paying someone to build a website for you. Once you know how to create and maintain websites you will understand how easy it is and then you will never consider hiring someone to do it for you.

Additionally, knowing how to use this software to create websites is a very marketable skill should you choose to pursue that avenue.  Many individuals and companies pay people to create and maintain their websites.

Bottom line, I love WordPress and I recommend using it to create websites or blogs for your business.

What’s My SERP?

What’s My SERP (search engine results page)?

search engine results pageHave you heard of the website whatsmyserp.com? I hadn’t until recently, and now I use it regularly.

This website is built to check your website’s rankings in the Google search engine for the keywords you are trying to rank for.

If you are wondering what SERP is, well it stands for search engine results page.

The tool at Whatsmyserp.com checks the top 300 search engine results pages in Google. You can check up to 25 keywords at a time per website, for a maximum of 12 domains.

The best part about this tool is that it is absolutely free. All you do is sign up and you can use the tool immediately.

This free little tool saves me so much time. I no longer have to manually check all my keywords in Google to see where my websites are ranking.

I personally login every couple of days and run the tool. It’s great and I highly recommend using it.

Currently it only works for the Google search engine, but they are working to make it available to check for Bing and other search engines in the future.

Finally, since signing up for the free use of the tool, they haven’t spammed me with emails, which I love. The only time they have emailed me so far is to let me know of improvements they are making to the website, and I am completely fine with that.

Go to Whatsmyserp.com and check out this handy tool for yourself.
